You found it

Feeling a bit “huh?” about what any of this means? Don’t worry, it’s not just you.

This page is here because most disaility providers didn’t go to university or TAFE to learn how to run a business. You went because you wanted to be the best dang hero possible and make a positive impact on people’s lives. The problem is that if your marketing and business aren’t working hard enough, you won’t even get the opportunity to put your education to good use…

… and I just can’t let that happen.

Let’s start at the very beginning…

Copywriting = words strategically spoken by your business. Like, all of them.

Imagine if everytime someone was curious about your business, your ethos, or whether or not you can help them, they could snap their fingers and be face-to-face with you. Would you know what to say? How to say it? When to say it? What NOT to say? Even if you did, would you have time to be popping up beside people, having the same conversations on repeat? Or would you walk away from those interactions wondering if you just missed a great opportunity because your words were a bit mixed up, you were busy with something else, or you’re aware that you don’t know what you don’t know?

That’s where someone like me swoops in, works hard, and does everything possible to make sure there are no missed opportunities.

That’s what we call ‘copy’.

Someone browsing your website is the digital equivalent of window shopping in your store (metaphorically speaking).

Someone following your socials is them ‘bumping’ into you at your own office.

Someone opening your marketing emails is them opening the front door you just knocked on and not slamming it shut. Heck, maybe they even invite you in for coffee.

Someone enjoying your blog is you lovingly stroking their head with your credentials, singing them a lullaby with lyrics that actually educate.

All of these are the steps to growing a business that fills all of your buckets…

… but not without the right skills.

Copywriters ARE writers. They probably spent their childhoods with Piglet and Pooh and had a favourite author instead of a popstar. They know when to use a conjunction or insert a full stop. A double superlative shall never escape their tongue and they’re constantly torn between correcting grammar and having friends.

But great copywriters are marketers, salespeople, and experts in communication. They know what to say, how to say it, when to say it, and what should never be said. They could write songs about sales psychology and teach 5 year olds the value of UGC (user generated content). They've got creatvitity in spades but it’s always backed up with solid strategy.

If you can’t do what a copywriter does (and truly, why on earth would you be expected to?), then yep, your business needs one.

Never a ‘coach’, just a clever thinking buddy

Mentoring is the strategy, the problem solving, the “I’ve got a great idea”. It’s the “Take a breath, we can solve this” when you’re just not sure what to do.

If you think of copywriting as the words, mentoring is teaching you what some of those words should be and why.

It’s also looking at your goals and creating the steps to get there.

It’s holding your hand when new challenges pop up and working with you to solve them.

It’s bouncing around ideas, connecting, sharing. Business ownership can be lonely but it doesn’t have to be.

My mentoring is not business coaching.

I have no modules for you to work through, no worksheets, and no vision boards (unless you want one!). I’m not going to suggest textbook solutions because in the world of disability, ‘textbook’ does not exist. We’ll book structured mentoring sessions when you need them, but they’ll be strictly to solve whatever problem you’re having at the time. You’ll have me on Voxer during business hours, so I’m just a button-push away.

We’ll figure out why your current marketing isn’t working and how to fix it. We’ll assess why your client retention is poor or why your leads aren’t converting to clients. We’ll look at your business processes, your admin, and how you can streamline it to create more billable hours. We’ll have strategies in place to attract the clients you want and deter the ones you don’t.

We’ll make sure that this time, it’s you who’s having their needs met.

The looming question

Do I need copywriting, mentoring, or both?

You probably need copywriting if…

Your website wasn’t written by a copywriter, you’re seizing opportunities but not securing them, you’re not bringing in leads, or you are but they’re not converting to clients.

You’d like to expand your reach and speak to the ones you haven’t met yet.

You’d like to establish your brand voice and attract only the clients you want.

You probably need mentoring if…

Things aren’t where you want or need them to be.

You’re constantly second guessing the choices you make in your business.

You need a sounding board to listen and collaborate.

You’re pouring everything into your business and feel as though it’s not getting you anywhere.

You might need both if…

Reading this website has made you go “YES, THIS CHICK GETS IT.”

Realistically, copywriting almost always involves some mentoring because you can’t have copywriting without strategy. That’s always included in the service.

By dipping your toe in the pool of both, you’re taking a hollistic approach to the future health of your business. In my experience, that’s what gets the best results.
